<\/a>“Hey, a blog about nothing, this should be good!”<\/p><\/div>\n
It\u2019s one of those weeks where \u201cI\u2019ve got nothing\u201d.\u00a0 OK, another week where I\u2019ve got nothing!\u00a0 I am in the desert this week, but I\u2019ve told you all about my escapades there, bad golf, fine dining and not-so-fine drinking, but plenty of it.\u00a0 Let\u2019s see, Russia-Ukraine, of course, has the headlines and everyone feels pretty much the same about the atrocities happening there. Covid<\/strong> is somewhere between \u2018old news\u2019 and ‘what\u2019s the new variant” and the stock market is just a barrel of laughs.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve been reading those \u2018good news\u2019 sites I mentioned a few blogs ago, and I find that I\u2019m already bored with all<\/em> good news.\u00a0 On that subject, I\u2019ve become less attracted to \u2018Squirrel News\u2019<\/strong><\/em>, but love Morning Brew<\/strong><\/em>, very entertaining If you sign up and tell them that I sent you there, they send me a tee shirt or a coffee mug, or maybe it\u2019s just a tee shirt with some coffee stains on it.<\/p>\n I\u2019m sitting here with a blank computer and a mind to match.\u00a0 I\u2019m thinking of Jerry Seinfeld\u2019s television series, that he described as \u2018a show about nothing\u2019.\u00a0 I\u2019m wondering if I can write a blog about nothing.\u00a0 I\u2019m guessing that there would be a number of people out there who would say that I\u2019ve written a number of blogs about nothing.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n Nah!<\/p><\/div>\n So, if you\u2019ve got something important to do, nah, it doesn\u2019t have to be that important, I\u2019d skip the rest of this blog and go do it. \u00a0Ahh, wait a minute, here\u2019s something.\u00a0 \u00a0I just discovered that it was exactly<\/strong> ten years ago<\/strong> from last Sunday that Suzanne and I abandoned our idea of writing poetic tributes.\u00a0 Yes, some of you remember the old \u2018Red Posey\u2019<\/strong> business that was augmented by our just-developed blog, All the News that’s Fit to Rhyme<\/em><\/strong>, where we followed a USA Today<\/em><\/strong> newspaper format by writing a topical poem about World News, Sports, Business and Entertainment \u2013 we published it EVERY WEEKDAY!!! \u00a0You can still find them at the beginning of our archives on this site.\u00a0 From a financial perspective, the business failed, but what we found out was that Suzanne and I enjoyed working and writing together, so on March 20, 2012, we had apparently run out of words that rhyme and launched a prose version called \u2018A Bird\u2019s Eye View\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, which we had to immediately change to \u2018From <\/em>A Bird\u2019s Eye View\u2019<\/strong> because A Bird\u2019s Eye View was already taken.\u00a0 Originally, we posted twice a week, but somewhere in the middle of 2012 we transitioned to every Monday, sometimes twice a week if we\u2019re traveling to an interesting place.\u00a0 The blog\u2019s been posted weekly, without fail, since then. We\u2019ve posted somewhere around 600 blogs and have received over 4,000 comments, although I\u2019d have to admit that the majority of those comments came from the same two people \u2013 thanks Pam and Janet!<\/p>\n As I’m fretting over what to put in the blog this week, Linda says, “Why don’t you just skip a week?”\u00a0 I look at her like she’s got two heads and remind her that Suzanne’s and my father was a newspaper man, so it’s just in our blood not to miss a deadline.\u00a0 She shrugs like she doesn’t really understand, so I try to bring it home to her and say, “Your father was a dairy farmer, so did he ever decide not to milk the cows for a week, or for a day, or for a morning?”\u00a0 She had walked away by then, so I’m not sure she got the point, or was interested in the point.\u00a0 So, I’m still rambling here.\u00a0 Hey, this week is the first week of spring, which doesn\u2019t mean much to those of us in southern California, since we\u2019ve already had days in the 90s, but for those in the northern environs it will mean warmer weather and for all of us, longer days; well, technically the days we still be 24 hours, there is just more daylight.<\/p>\n I\u2019m reading a really good book, The Beatles<\/em><\/strong>, remember them?\u00a0 It\u2019s by Bob Spitz<\/strong> and it starts from the very beginning \u2013 really a detailed commentary on everything Beatles \u2013 very interesting.\u00a0 Unlike this blog!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" by Bob Sparrow It\u2019s one of those weeks where \u201cI\u2019ve got nothing\u201d.\u00a0 OK, another week where I\u2019ve got nothing!\u00a0 I am in the desert this week, but I\u2019ve told you all about my escapades there, bad golf, fine dining and … read more![\"\"](\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Larry-David-300x168.jpg\")
