<\/a>Yosemite’s Fire Fall<\/p><\/div>\n
Most of us who live in the \u2018Golden State\u2019<\/strong> have visited many of our famous landmarks.\u00a0 As a native Californian with a severe case of wanderlust, I assumed I\u2019ve visited most, if not all, of them.\u00a0 So, I turned to Google to see the list of what was classified as \u2018famous landmarks\u2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Golden Gate Bridge<\/strong> \u2013 Since I was born 28 miles north of this landmark, I probably went across this bridge before I was able to walk \u2013 CHECK.\u00a0 Yosemite\u2019s Half Dome<\/strong> \u2013 as a kid, our family vacationed here every summer; I was even able to see the amazing \u2018Fire Falls\u2019 over Glacier Point<\/strong> many times; and much later in life I was able to hike to the top of Half Dome for that spectacular view – CHECK.\u00a0 Alcatraz<\/strong> \u2013 No, not as a resident!\u00a0 I took the tour several years ago, barely escaped \u2013 CHECK.\u00a0 Fisherman\u2019s Wharf<\/strong> \u2013 of course, and had many great bowls of clam chowder \u2013 CHECK.\u00a0 Lake Tahoe<\/strong> \u2013 grew up there \u2013 CHECK.\u00a0 Napa Valley<\/strong> \u2013 been over-served there . . . many times \u2013 CHECK.\u00a0 Let\u2019s get to the southern part of the state. \u00a0Oh, first let\u2019s cruise on down Big Sur<\/strong> in central California to see that spectacular coastline landmark – CHECK. And I\u2019ve toured Hearst Castle<\/strong> on my way south \u2013 CHECK.<\/p>\n Griffith Observatory<\/p><\/div>\n OK, so let\u2019s get to some landmarks on the list here in southern California: Griffith Conservatory\/ Hollywood Sign<\/strong> \u2013 I did those on the same trip a few years back, but they don\u2019t let you near the HOLLYWOOD sign anymore \u2013 too many people turning it into HOLLYWEIRD – CHECK.\u00a0 Santa Monica Pier<\/strong>, Getty Museum<\/strong>, Death Valley<\/strong>, Randy\u2019s Donuts<\/strong>, Disneyland<\/strong>, CHECK, CHECK, CH . . . wait a minute, Randy\u2019s Donuts???!!!\u00a0 Yes, it\u2019s on the list of famous California landmarks!!\u00a0 Not only have I not been there, but I\u2019ve never heard of it. I asked Linda if she\u2019s ever heard of it; yes, she had, as she had taught school in intercity LA and later, her work took her to many LA destinations, including Randy’s Donuts.\u00a0 I came to the realization that my life\u2019s \u2018travel check list\u2019<\/strong> was not complete until I\u2019d been to this ‘famous California Landmark’, Randy\u2019s Donuts.\u00a0 So, I checked the Internet for the history and locations of Randy\u2019s Donuts.<\/p>\n Enjoying the 400 Calorie Crondy<\/p><\/div>\n Randy\u2019s Donuts, which originated in Inglewood, CA, is celebrating it\u2019s 50th<\/sup> year<\/strong> in business this year and out front most stores sport their big, famous donut sign, maybe biggest in the world.\u00a0 This famous donut sign has appeared in over 18 movies and TV shows as well as Randy Newman\u2019s music video, I Love L.A<\/strong>.<\/em> The store closest to me that features the \u2018famous donut sign\u2019 on top of the building, is in Downey, about a 30-minute drive.\u00a0 So, last Saturday morning I jumped in my car and headed up the 5 freeway to check off Randy\u2019s Donuts on my list.<\/p>\n My research determined that the piece de resistance<\/em> at Randy\u2019s is the \u2018Crondy\u2019<\/strong>, a cross between a croissant and a donut, weighing in at around 400 calories!<\/strong>\u00a0 Yep, had to try it \u2013 you\u2019re welcome.\u00a0 It was spectacular!!!<\/p>\n What I don\u2019t do for you guys!!!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" by Bob Sparrow Most of us who live in the \u2018Golden State\u2019 have visited many of our famous landmarks.\u00a0 As a native Californian with a severe case of wanderlust, I assumed I\u2019ve visited most, if not all, of them.\u00a0 So, … read more![\"\"](\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Griffith.jpg\")
