David Foster & Katherine McPhee<\/p><\/div>\n

Linda and I had a meeting with \u2018The Hit Man\u2019<\/strong> in Las Vegas last weekend.\u00a0 No, our lives were not in danger, we went to see a David Foster<\/strong> show.\u00a0 Some of you are saying, \u201cWho\u2019s David Foster?\u00a0 Isn\u2019t he the guy that wrote \u201cMy Old Kentucky Home\u201d<\/em><\/strong>? No, that\u2019s Stephen Foster, and although a gifted musician, he died in 1864.\u00a0 Oh, you mean Foster Brooks.\u00a0 No, he\u2019s the lovable drunk that had no musical talent and is also no longer with us.<\/p>\n

OK, for those not familiar with this Canadian musical genius, composer, arranger, and producer, here\u2019s a quick bio: He has won 16 Grammy Awards, three for Producer of the Year, he has three Emmy<\/strong> nominations, three Oscar<\/strong> nominations for \u2018\u2019Best Original Song\u201d, and a Golden Globe Award<\/strong>.\u00a0 He has created hit songs and award-winning gold and platinum albums for a diverse array of artists, including:<\/p>\n

Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, <\/strong>who says, \u201cDavid hears things no other person hears,\u201d Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble,<\/strong> who called Foster \u201cone of the most brilliant musical minds of our time, <\/strong>Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Michael Bolton, Seal, Chaka Khan, Kenny Rogers,<\/strong> Josh Groban, <\/strong>who credits him with \u201csingle-handedly changing my life.\u201d\u00a0Dolly Parton, Chicago, (<\/strong>Foster and Chicago singer, Peter Cetera, together wrote a number of Chicago hit songs), Hall & Oates, Brandy, \u2018N Sync, Boz Scaggs and Gloria Estefan.<\/strong>\u00a0 He\u2019s also created soundtracks for movies such as Bodyguard<\/strong>, Urban Cowboy<\/strong> and St. Elmo\u2019s Fire.\u00a0 <\/strong>He\u2019s now working on a Broadway musical. \u00a0Not a bad resume.<\/p>\n

His show, An Intimate Evening with David Foster \u2013 HITMAN<\/em><\/strong>, at the Wynn<\/strong> in Las Vegas, featured his 5th<\/sup> wife, Kathrine McPhee<\/strong>, who was runner-up on the sixth season of American Idol<\/em><\/strong> and is 35 years younger than the 75-year-old Foster. He is a classically trained piano player who makes fun of his own singing, because he really can’t sing.\u00a0 He was also joined on stage by two fabulous singers, Daniel Emmet<\/strong> and Pia Toscano<\/strong>, both past contestants on America\u2019s Got Talent<\/strong>, who you will hear more about in the near future, because they are both very, very good.\u00a0 Also joining him and singing via live video<\/strong> was Andrea Bocelli<\/strong>, Josh Groban<\/strong> and Kenny G<\/strong> (not singing, but playing his incredible saxophone).\u00a0 As he banters back and forth with his guests, you just feel like your sitting with him in his<\/p>\n

piano room as he talks about his amazing life’s journey.\u00a0 The combination of great music, great story-telling and witty comedy throughout, made it one of the best shows I\u2019ve ever seen \u2013 we were totally entertained every minute!<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve not seen the documentary on this unique genius, go to Netflix<\/strong> and find Off the Record<\/em><\/strong>, it is an amazing story; very entertaining \u2013 he is a character!<\/p>\n

The cherry on top of our quick trip to Las Vegas was that my 49ers were playing the Thursday night football game and I was able to win a nice parlay bet. Sometimes Christmas comes early!<\/p>\n
