I haven\u2019t traveled in several weeks, and there is not much of interest going on in my life currently, so my options for writing this week\u2019s blog are significantly limited.\u00a0 But you belong to a loyal following, who have come to expect something interesting, entertaining or thought-provoking each week.\u00a0 That\u2019s what you paid for when you signed up for our blog . . . oh, wait a minute, the blog is free!\u00a0<\/strong> But you understandably still have some expectations.<\/p>\n Those of you who have been with us from the beginning (that\u2019s the summer of 2011) know that we started out, not with a blog, but writing \u2018tribute poems\u2019 for people who would request something for a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasions.\u00a0 That was called \u2018Red Posey\u2019<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 I forget why.\u00a0 It was fairly short-lived.\u00a0 We then <\/p>\n We read of the soldier who escaped to<\/em><\/strong> Korea<\/p>\n And all of this year\u2019s political diarrhea<\/p>\n Of flooding and fires and all that looks grim<\/p>\n Of airlines that cancel their flights on a whim<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We hope that our stocks continues to rise<\/p>\n And that interest rates stop reaching those highs<\/p>\n We see that AI is improving with haste<\/p>\n As we’re praying to Google that we won\u2019t be replaced<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Open was won by B. <\/a> started a blog, something that, prior to saying “Let’s write a blog”. we\u2019d never heard the term, but plunged in, writing a four-stanza poem, twice a week, following the format of the popular national newspaper of the day, USA Today<\/em><\/strong>, which had four sections, world news, business, sports, and entertainment.\u00a0 This iteration of the blog was called, Morning News in Verse<\/em><\/strong>, with a by-line that read, All the News that Fit to Rhyme.\u00a0 <\/strong>If we were still doing that today, it would look something like this:<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/facebook-150x150.jpg\")
<\/a>We\u2019ve seriously considered taking the blog off of Facebook, as we don\u2019t agree with some of the information gathering algorithm they use (If you don\u2019t see our blog next week on Facebook, you\u2019ll know that they took us down after reading this!).\u00a0 So, even though we’re not big fans of Facebook, it is popular with our peers (the ‘older’ age groups), and thus it is where most of our readers read our blog, so big tech wins again.<\/p>\n
