<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes my travels take me to exotic places; sometimes my travels take me on introspective journeys, but last Friday morning at around 2:00 a.m. my travels took me to the emergency room at St. Joseph\u2019s Hospital<\/strong> with the on-set of a kidney stone<\/strong>.\u00a0 It was my third, so I\u2019ve become quite knowledgeable about them and familiar with the associated pain, which has become the subject of some debate.<\/p>\nIt has been said that the pain of a kidney stone is similar to the pain of childbirth<\/strong>.\u00a0 Having never given birth, I wouldn\u2019t know and my personal experience has told me that some stones are more painful than others.\u00a0 Obviously women would be the only ones who would be able to give us an objective perspective on this subject, but do they?\u00a0 Surely some do, but it\u2019s easy to see how they might stretch the truth a bit when they\u2019re in there pushing and breathing and sweating and yelling while the father-to-be is out in the waiting room waiting to hand out cigars.<\/p>\n So to settle the question once and for all of which is more painful child birth or kidney stones, an extensive survey of both men and women was conducted.\u00a0 OK, it wasn\u2019t really that \u2018extensive\u2019, it was really just a simple question to each gender. \u00a0Because many of the male survey participants had never had a kidney stone the survey equated the pain of a stone to the pain of being kicked in the To the women<\/strong>: Knowing the pain of childbirth, would you have another child?\u00a0 Only 3% answered \u2018No\u2019.<\/p>\n To the men<\/strong>: Knowing the pain of being kicked in the balls, would you like to be kicked in the balls again?\u00a0 100% answered \u2018No\u2019.<\/p>\n There you have it – statistics don\u2019t lie.<\/p>\n So how does this all tie into my up-coming river cruise down the Rhine?\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t, but hey cut me a little slack here; I\u2019ve just been kicked in the balls.<\/p>\n – Touring Ann\u2019s House of Franks (I love hot dogs)<\/p>\n – Goghing in a van to see a starry night (I hope it has a moon roof)<\/p>\n – Drinking Heineken<\/strong> cheese beer (Leave it to the Dutch to combine beer and Cheetos<\/strong>) I’m just excited to sees the famous Wind Tunnels and a field filled with Two Lips.<\/p>\n OK my medication is starting to wear off \u2013 I\u2019ll be fine.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" by Bob Sparrow \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes my travels take me to exotic places; sometimes my travels take me on introspective journeys, but last Friday morning at around 2:00 a.m. my travels took me to the emergency room at St. Joseph\u2019s Hospital … read more<\/a>balls.\u00a0 Survey participants were asked the following questions:<\/p>\n<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Prior to boarding the Viking Jarl<\/strong>, we\u2019ll be spending three days in Amsterdam<\/strong> and I understand, according to our itinerary, we will be:<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
