I\u2019ve come to grips with that now and have decided that I owed it to you readers to let you know that I am now back from the future with some more little know facts about what happened in history <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">this week.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Monday, April 25<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have chosen Miss Rhode Island as my April spokesperson this week, as I think she sums up this date like no one else could. Have a look . . .<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r3w0eACxtoc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Tuesday, April 26,<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1933 &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>The <strong>Gestopo<\/strong> becomes the official secret police force of Nazi Germany and create a killer soup recipe that is made of raw vegetables and served cold . . . oh, that\u2019s <strong>Gazpacho<\/strong>, never mind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1934<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Donald Sterling<\/strong>, previous owner of the <strong>L.A. Clippers<\/strong> basketball team, is born. You\u2019ll remember the magnanimous Mr. Sterling for telling his mistress, Stiviano: <em>&#8220;It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you&#8217;re associating with black people. You can sleep with them, bring them in, you can do whatever you want, but the little I ask you is &#8230; not to bring them to my games&#8221;<\/em>. \u00a0Shortly after the statement was made public the NAACP cancelled its plans for the following month to award Sterling for a second time with its lifetime achievement award. I\u2019m not making that up!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Wednesday, April 27<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1882<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0As a follow up to the whereabouts of <strong>Ralph Waldo Emerson<\/strong>, he died on this day and was found on the remote island of Tierra del Fuego dressed in a red and white stripped nightcap and pajamas<\/p>\n<p><strong>1938<\/strong> &#8211; A <strong>colored baseball<\/strong> was used for the first time in any baseball game. The ball was yellow and was used between Columbia and Fordham Universities in New York City.\u00a0 A colored baseball <u>player<\/u> was not used until <strong>nine years later.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1983<\/strong> \u2013 And speaking of baseball, strike out artist, <strong>Nolan Ryan<\/strong> broke a 55-year-old major league record when he was refused for a date by Cindy Stapleton; it was his 3,509th career strike out.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Thursday, April 28<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1962<\/strong> &#8211; In the Sahara Desert of Algeria, a team led by <strong>Red Adair<\/strong> used explosives to put out the well fire known as the <strong>Devil&#8217;s Cigarette Lighter<\/strong>. It was later determined that the fire was actually caused by Red when he was attempting to light one of his farts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1967<\/strong> &#8211; <strong>Muhammad Ali<\/strong> refused induction into the\u00a0U. S. Army on religious grounds as a consciences objector who loathed violence. Ali went on to turn numerous opponent\u2019s faces into hamburger, caused many concussions and ruptured spleens, all in the name of peace.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Friday, April 29<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1997<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>U.S. Astronaut Jerry Linenger<\/strong> and <strong>U.S.S.R. Cosmonaut Vasily Tsibliyev<\/strong> went<a href=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?attachment_id=5006\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5006\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-5006 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/space-walkers.jpeg\" alt=\"space walkers\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a> on the first U.S.-Russian space walk.\u00a0The couple was chosen as both of their profiles indicated that liked Barry Manilow music, rainy days and long walks in space.<\/p>\n<p>Hope your weekend is less confusing now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Bob Sparrow This week I was reminded, more than once, that it was still April not May.
