<\/a>While some people like to call Memorial Day<\/strong> the ‘unofficial start of Summer’<\/strong>, I like to call Memorial Day<\/strong> the official recognition of those brave men and women who paid the ultimate price for preserving our freedoms. \u00a0The ‘unofficial start of Summer’<\/strong>\u00a0when I was a kid started at about three o\u2019clock on the last day of school \u2013 which was typically around the middle of June. \u00a0However, the \u2018actual start of Summer\u2019<\/strong> in the Northern Hemisphere<\/strong> occurs this year next\u00a0Monday, June 20th at exactly 9:34 a.m. PDT<\/strong>\u00a0when the sun reaches its northernmost point of the equator, but you probably already knew that.\u00a0 So during this last week of Spring<\/strong> I\u2019m going to help you prepare for Summer<\/strong>.<\/p>\nAs sister Suzanne<\/strong> explained last week, preparing for summer for those in Scottsdale<\/strong> means getting out of town. \u00a0But some of us, who actually have to live in the same house all year long, have to ready ourselves in other ways. Find them at\u00a0REI<\/strong> \u2013 you may even find other cool stuff there that will get you outside.<\/p>\n BBQ<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Yes, you can still do your favorite chicken or ribs recipe, but make this summer the one that your Summer Blockbusters<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 I understand that it\u2019s early, but so far it doesn\u2019t look like Tinsel Town will bust too many blocks this summer.
