Charged with a most difficult task of following Suzanne\u2019s eloquent reprise of her emotional\u00a0account of Melissa Harrington Hughes\u2019 9\/11 experience<\/strong>, and given that I have barely seen the outside of my home in the last six weeks, I submit a\u00a0rather pedestrian look at updating some past blog stories.<\/p>\n

The rest of this story begins with an email from our\u00a0trekking\u00a0guide in the Himalayas<\/strong>, Dom<\/strong>, saying that he and his family (wife and two children) were still living in a tent due to their home being destroyed by the earthquake in April 2015<\/strong> and asking for some help.\u00a0 Patrick and I and several friends sent money to him back in May 2015, but due to the earthquake, the trekking business was not doing so well in Nepal<\/strong> so Dom had limited income opportunities.\u00a0 I decided to ask our most-generous neighborhood if they wanted to help.\u00a0 They responded in spades and I was able to send Dom over $1,000<\/strong>, which in Kathmandu<\/strong> is like a year\u2019s income.\u00a0Contributors commented on how nice it was to donate knowing that all the money was going to where it’s suppose to and that it is someone with a personal connection.\u00a0 Dom was most grateful.\u00a0<\/strong> I asked him if he could send some pictures of his family and the surrounding area so that I could share them with the neighbors who contributed.\u00a0 He did, including a picture of him on Mt. Everest<\/strong>, getting to Camp 4<\/strong>, which is over 26,000 feet in elevation<\/strong>.\u00a0 He was attempting to summit Everest without oxygen<\/strong>, something only a\u00a0handful of\u00a0people have done.\u00a0 He did not do it this time, but he said next time he will use oxygen and get to the top.\u00a0 Thankfully Dom is back in business.<\/p>\n

In April of last year I predicted that Los Angeles<\/strong> would never get an NFL<\/strong> team\u00a0for a variety of reasons. \u00a0Whether L.A. actually got an NFL team was still up for debate after the Rams<\/strong> lost their season opener to the 49ers<\/strong> 28-0, but after a win against a tough Seattle team last Sunday, my prediction is now officially wrong. \u00a0It was worth it just to watch Pete Carroll<\/strong> go apoplectic on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

Capobianco – looks innocent to me!<\/p><\/div>\n

I was\u00a0driving by myself on the road\u00a0to Hana<\/strong>, with no alibi, on the day Carly Scott<\/strong> was declared \u2018missing\u2019<\/strong> in the area and subsequently found murdered<\/strong>. \u00a0I did pick up a strange female hitchhiker that day, but I swear I am not a person of interest!\u00a0 Steven Capobianco<\/strong>, however is, in fact he has moved on from a \u2018person of interest\u2019<\/strong> to being incarcerated and standing trial for the murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Carly \u201cCharli\u201d Scott<\/strong>. \u00a0He is also accused of setting her vehicle on fire.\u00a0 Scott\u00a0was 27-years-old and five months pregnant<\/strong> at the time with an unborn child fathered by the defendant<\/strong>. \u00a0Capobianco has pleaded not guilty to the charges.\u00a0 The Maui<\/strong> trial has been on-going since June 27, 2016; yes, two-and-a-half months! \u00a0Evidence presented thus far\u00a0implicates\u00a0Capobianco as the murderer. \u00a0Stay tuned for final verdict.<\/p>\n

Hip, Hip Away<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Thanks again to all you well-wishers \u2013 the hip is great; played golf last week (score not important and it\u2019s really none of your business); and walked 5 miles on Thursday. In no time I\u2019ll be smelling those pine trees in the local mountains.<\/p>\n
