{"id":6255,"date":"2017-06-05T09:09:27","date_gmt":"2017-06-05T16:09:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?p=6255"},"modified":"2017-06-04T20:22:28","modified_gmt":"2017-06-05T03:22:28","slug":"the-adding-of-addison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?p=6255","title":{"rendered":"The Addition of Addison"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">by Bob Sparrow<\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">\n<div id=\"attachment_6261\" style=\"width: 257px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?attachment_id=6261\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6261\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6261\" class=\"wp-image-6261 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Addison-1-min-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"247\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6261\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Addison at 1 minute old<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Somewhere around <strong>353,000 babies<\/strong> were born in the world last Friday, June 2, 2017, approximately <strong>11,000<\/strong> of those were born in the U.S. on that day and around <strong>1,300<\/strong> in California.\u00a0 So having a baby that day didn\u2019t appear to be really that big a deal.\u00a0 Unless it\u2019s an addition to <strong><i>your<\/i><\/strong> family that you\u2019ve long-awaited and comes with a back-story fit for a tv mini-series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">Daughter and expectant mother, <strong>Dana Sparrow Borrelli<\/strong> has been through two open-heart surgeries, the first when she was one-and-a-half and the other just a few years ago, as well as several intravenous operations where doctors go in through an artery in the groin up to the heart to replace a valve. I don\u2019t think they learned that on <strong>YouTube!<\/strong>\u00a0 Once her heart was \u2018baby-ready\u2019, there were other difficulties in bringing a new Borrelli into this world, including a miscarriage and several tries of artificial insemination.\u00a0 \u00a0During that process, daughter <strong>Stephanie<\/strong>, Dana\u2019s older sister, volunteered to carry the baby for her as a surrogate mother \u2013 a true act of love!\u00a0 They ultimately tried the very expensive process of in vitro, and it took! The process produced <strong>8 fertilized eggs<\/strong>, four boys and four girls, a girl was inserted and the other seven were put in the freezer for future delivery &#8211; probably not all seven!<\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">This entire process would have certainly discouraged the average person, but Dana is no average person \u2013 through it all, she kept an unbelievably positive attitude, and while we know she was dying on the inside, there was never a <strong>\u2018why me?\u2019<\/strong> attitude, just great perseverance.<\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">Her perseverance paid off in spades last week with the arrival of <strong>Addison Sparrow Borrelli<\/strong>, a 7 lb. 8 oz., 22 inch<a href=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?attachment_id=6259\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6259\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-6259 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Addison-262x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"262\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Addison-262x300.png 262w, https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Addison.png 625w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" \/><\/a> beautiful girl, but of course it didn\u2019t come easy.<\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">Dana was brought into <strong>Huntington Hospital<\/strong> in <strong>Pasadena<\/strong> on Wednesday evening around 10:00 p.m., May 31 with the idea that she would be given a medication (Pitocin) that would help her deliver in approximately 12 hours.\u00a0 Linda and I left home early Wednesday morning to make sure we got to the hospital on time.\u00a0 Around mid-day Thursday, June 1, Dana was getting <strong>severe labor pains<\/strong> and was given an <strong>epidural<\/strong>, which relieved the pain, but slowed down the labor process.\u00a0 Thursday evening, still no baby and cervix dilation was minimal.\u00a0 Through the night, Dana and Joe were resting fairly comfortably in her room, in fact they were probably resting more comfortably than we were trying to catch a few winks on hard, straight-back chairs in the waiting room.\u00a0 We maybe got 30 minutes of shut eye throughout the whole night.\u00a0 By 7:00 a.m. we were back in Dana\u2019s room where she was getting closer to delivery, but still not there.\u00a0 Around 8:00 the doctor arrived and Linda and Joe got to remain in the delivery room, I\u2019m ushered out to the waiting room.\u00a0 After about an hour of <strong>\u2018pushing\u2019<\/strong> and with exhaustion written all over Dana\u2019s face, Addison made her debut, showing a few \u2018battle scars\u2019 but looking beautiful and healthy.\u00a0 Dana, not so much \u2013 she looked and felt exhausted, but her heart held up well and within 30 minutes, her color had returned to her face along with her engaging smile. \u00a0But it wasn&#8217;t until the following day that Joe brought her a cheeseburger, which she thoroughly enjoyed.<\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">\n<div id=\"attachment_6263\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?attachment_id=6263\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6263\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6263\" class=\"wp-image-6263 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/cheeseburger-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6263\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cheeseburger in Paradise<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The cherry on top of all this for us was that of all the 353,000 babies born in the world on June 2, Addison was voted <strong>&#8216;The Most Beautiful&#8217;<\/strong>.\u00a0 OK, only our immediately family got to vote, but the vote was not influenced by the Russians!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"aolmail_MsoNormal\">Dana and Joe took their new addition home on Sunday, June 4. \u00a0Linda and I had a hard time complaining about our 40+ hours without sleep when we realized what Dana had been through to make this miracle happen. \u00a0We all agreed &#8211;
