{"id":9599,"date":"2020-11-23T09:00:20","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T17:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?p=9599"},"modified":"2020-11-23T07:38:12","modified_gmt":"2020-11-23T15:38:12","slug":"oh-to-be-thankful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?p=9599","title":{"rendered":"OH, TO BE THANKFUL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Suzanne Sparrow Watson<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/?attachment_id=9603\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9603\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9603\" src=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Asteroid-300x140.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"140\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Asteroid-300x140.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Asteroid-768x358.jpg 768w, https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Asteroid-1024x478.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/fromabirdseyeview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Asteroid.jpg 1100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Well, we&#8217;ve made it to Thanksgiving.\u00a0 In this weird\/awful year of 2020 there were no guarantees.\u00a0 \u00a0If ever there was a year that a <strong>giant asteroid would destroy Earth,<\/strong> this would be it.\u00a0 But here we are, ready to celebrate what we are thankful for on Thursday.\u00a0 Some gatherings won&#8217;t have as many guests as normal since everyone except the <strong>Governor of California<\/strong> is supposed to limit the number of people with whom they dine.\u00a0 Other families have had a really rough year &#8211; either due to health issues or financial stress.\u00a0 We all know that we should be grateful for what we have and there have been about 8 million articles published about that in the last week.\u00a0 There are so many that I&#8217;ve begun to think &#8220;yada, yada, yada&#8221; when I see them &#8211; they invariably with a photo of someone in a <strong>yoga pose or a cup of matcha tea.\u00a0<\/strong> So I&#8217;ve decided to take a different view &#8211; this week I tried to find some reflections on Thanksgiving that might just bring a smile to your face or appeal to the irreverent aspect of your humor.\u00a0 After all, we could all use a laugh about now.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A new survey found that 80 percent of men claim they help cook Thanksgiving dinner. Which makes sense, when you hear them consider saying &#8216;that smells good&#8217; to be helping.&#8221; &#8211; Jimmie Fallon<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you stand in the meat section at the grocery store long enough, you start to get mad at turkeys. There\u2019s turkey ham, turkey bologna, turkey pastrami. Someone needs to tell the turkey, \u2018Man, just be yourself.'&#8221; &#8211; Mitch Hedberg<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Thankstini: A fun and delicious new novelty drink I invented. Cranberry juice, potato vodka, and a bouillon cube. Tastes just like a turkey dinner.&#8221;\u00a0 &#8211; from <em>How I Met Your Mother<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not too much food.
