Young G.O.A.T. and Old G.O.A.T.<\/p><\/div>\n

I\u2019m writing this before \u2018the game\u2019, with the exception of a few comments (in\u00a0red)<\/span><\/span> that I will squeeze in on Sunday night (assuming I\u2019m relatively sober) or early Monday morning (assuming I\u2019m not too hung over). \u00a0For me the Super Bowl<\/strong> is a bitter-sweet occasion, as it’s the best two teams in football squaring off, yet it marks the end of this football season. In January, colleges ended their season with the College Football Playoff National Championship<\/strong> and now this . . . it\u2019s over and I don\u2019t have my Covid-19 or my ‘Football\u2019s Gone’ vaccine \u2013 I don\u2019t know if I have the virus, but I am feely depressed.\u00a0 Perhaps Pfizer can work on a vaccine for that!<\/p>\n

So, here\u2019s my preview and review of the events from Sunday\u2019s Super Bowl LV <\/strong>(That’s 55 for those that don’t speak Roman)\u00a0 Either the young G.O.A.T. (G<\/strong>reatest O<\/strong>f A<\/strong>ll T<\/strong>ime), 25 year old, Patrick Mahomes<\/strong> or the old G.O.A.T., 43 year old, Tom Brady<\/strong>, won the game.\u00a0 (the old G.O.A.T. was the clear winner!) <\/span>With my 49ers<\/strong> watching at home, I was ambivalent about the outcome, but rather hoping for a good game, whoever wins. \u00a0Another reason for hoping that the game was at least a close, good one (which it wasn’t)<\/span>, was that, for me, much of what surrounds the game is the usual pseudo-hype and frivolous fluff.<\/p>\n

I had reviewed all the game\u2019s advertisements on line last week and found them to be lacking in creativity, humor and impact, but they were diverse.\u00a0 Prior to the National Anthem being sung, America the Beautiful<\/strong> was performed by Gabriella Wilson, who goes by the name H.E.R.<\/strong> (An acronym for H<\/strong>aving E<\/strong>verything R<\/strong>evealed.\u00a0 I\u2019m hoping that it didn\u2019t get to the point of Janet Jackson\u2019s \u2018wardrobe malfunction\u2019<\/strong> during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show).\u00a0 The National Anthem<\/strong> was sung by R & B singer, Jazmine Sullivan<\/strong> and country western singer Eric Church<\/strong> \u2013 I hope it was recognizable and that everyone stood at attention with their hand over their heart.\u00a0 OK, I can hear you now, \u201cWhat century were you born in, Bob?!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Guac<\/p><\/div>\n

The halftime show featured The Weeknd<\/strong>, (yes, that\u2019s how you spell it), a three-time Grammy winner, who is known for his graphic music videos and performances featuring blood and violence, but the three-time Grammy winner said he will tone down his act during this show \u2013 let\u2019s hope he did; there was probably enough blood and violence during the game.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re feeling like that New Year\u2019s resolution diet just got blown up, it probably did, as Super Bowl<\/strong> is the second most glutenous day of the year, trailing only Thanksgiving<\/strong>.\u00a0 Like the turkey at Thanksgiving, the avocado is an endangered species during Super Bowls as over 100 million pounds<\/strong> of guacamole were consumed on Sunday. Avocado growers refer to the Super Bowl as the \u2018Guacamole Bowl\u2019.<\/p>\n

Too late for you now, but I\u2019ll make a few \u2018prop bets\u2019 \u2013 promise I won\u2019t change them after the game:<\/p>\n
